Baldero from CarusVini is a Chianti Classico DOCG made from one hundred percent Sangiovese, sourced from 8.5 hectares of vineyard between San Casciano and Mercatale in Val di Pesa. The name refers to 'baldanza', self-confidence. The wine matures almost entirely in stainless steel, putting the pure fruit of the Sangiovese centre stage. In the glass it shows a bright, sparkling ruby red. The nose is fresh and fruity, with red fruit and cherry, a floral touch of iris and a light hint of vanilla.
On the palate the wine is fresh and elegant, harmonious and juicy, with well-structured, moderate tannins and a savoury, slightly salty undertone so characteristic of Chianti Classico. The finish is clean and fresh. A lively, honest Chianti Classico that shows at its best at 14 °C.
Lovely with grilled and braised meat, tagliata of Cinta Senese pork, pasta with ragù and hard Italian cheeses.
