Description:

This young Bordeaux Blanc presents itself in the glass with a bright, light yellow colour and green reflections, immediately evoking a sense of freshness. On the nose the wine opens with expressive aromas of lime, grapefruit and white peach, complemented by floral notes of acacia blossom and a light spiciness. The taste is lively and taut, with a fine balance between ripe citrus fruit, fine acidity and a soft roundness that comes from the Sémillon. The wine has a mineral undertone that brings extra tension and length.

Food pairing:

Perfect with young goat’s cheese, ceviche or a salad with green asparagus and vinaigrette.

Winery:

Château de Malleret, located on the Left Bank of the Bordeaux region in the commune of Le Pian-Médoc, has a history dating back to the 17th century. The estate is best known for its classic red wines from the Haut-Médoc, but also produces a refined white wine range under the name Balzane, named after one of the estate’s racehorses — a nod to the château’s historic equestrian tradition. The vineyards for the white wine lie on cool soils and are tended with care to bring out the fresh expression of Sauvignon Blanc and the structure of Sémillon to the full.
