The wine has a deep ruby red colour with purple highlights, indicating both concentration and youthfulness. On the nose Château Lagrange 2019 offers a beautifully layered aroma of blackcurrants, cassis and ripe cherries, complemented by notes of cedarwood, tobacco and a touch of vanilla from ageing in oak. There are also subtle hints of graphite and spice, typical of the wines of Pauillac. On the first sip, the power and finesse of this wine come to the fore. The attack is full and rich, with a core of ripe black fruit and elegant oak notes. The tannins are firm but perfectly integrated, giving the wine a velvety structure. Freshness and minerality ensure excellent balance. The finish is long and complex, with notes of dark chocolate, liquorice and a delicate spiciness that lingers for a long time.
Excellent with grilled red meat, lamb chops, game dishes and mature cheeses such as Comté or aged Gouda.
