Sancerre Rouge 2022 from Domaine Bonnard is an elegant red wine made from Pinot Noir, the grape with which Sancerre, alongside its well-known whites, also produces fine red wine. In the glass the wine shows a bright ruby-red colour with violet hints. The nose is fresh and fruity, with red fruit such as cherry, redcurrant and strawberry, complemented by a light earthy, spicy touch.
On the palate the wine is supple and light-bodied, with juicy red fruit and fresh acidity that keeps it lively. The tannins are fine and restrained, and the finish is clean and medium-long. A typical Loire Pinot Noir: refined rather than powerful, and delicious served lightly chilled.
Lovely with rabbit with prunes, roast chicken or duck, grilled salmon and soft cheeses.
