The Pinot Gris 2025 from the Apostelhoeve is a dry white wine from the limestone-rich slopes of the Louwberg near Maastricht. Pinot Gris, originally a Burgundian grape, thrives in a cool climate with a deep limestone subsoil. In the glass the wine shows a radiant golden yellow colour. The nose is exuberant, with tropical fruit such as mango, pineapple and lychee.
On the palate the wine starts fresh, then unfolds rich and full, with a soft, slightly round texture. Ripe exotic fruit dominates, with a subtle, sweetish impression nicely balanced by the fresh acidity. The wine was aged in stainless steel so that the pure fruit takes centre stage. The finish is smooth and persistent.
Lovely with Asian cuisine, including mildly spicy dishes, and also with pasta, risotto, grilled chicken or white fish.
