Description:

The Frappato grapes are hand-picked in the warm hills around Milazzo, followed by ink-coloured fermentation at 28–29 °C with a short skin maceration of 5–6 days. After malolactic fermentation the wine matured for six months in stainless steel tanks, plus at least three months of bottle ageing. In the glass it shows a bright ruby red with purple reflections. The nose reveals a complex yet fresh scent of red fruit such as raspberry, blackberry and blackcurrant, interwoven with spicy notes of black pepper, liquorice and subtle spices. Mouth-filling and balanced, with juicy fruit, soft tannins, fresh acidity and a delicate structure; a hint of blood orange rounds it all off .

Food pairing:

It shows beautifully with tuna carpaccio, grilled chicken or generously filled pastas with tomatoes and herbs. Soft cheese, charcuterie or mixed antipasti also enhance the spicy freshness and fruit depth of the wine.

Winery:

Cantine Grasso is a traditional Sicilian winery with a rich history in winemaking. Located in the sunny south of Italy, the estate benefits from warm Mediterranean climatic conditions and volcanic soils, resulting in wines with intense aromas and a pronounced expression of terroir. Nero d'Avola is the pride of Sicily and reflects the power and warmth of the island. Cantine Grasso combines modern winemaking techniques with traditional methods, allowing the wines to retain their character and authenticity. The BALDOVINO Nero d'Avola 2022 is a fine example of their craftsmanship and passion for quality wines.
