The Pinot Gris Barrique is the top version of the Apostelhoeve's Pinot Gris. Whereas the winery normally works with stainless steel, this wine matures for six months in new French oak barriques and is bottled only in limited numbers. In the glass it shows a beautiful golden-yellow colour. The nose is rich, with caramel, vanilla, tropical fruit, toast and other roasted notes.
On the palate the wine is full, soft and fleshy, with a round structure and a clear but well-integrated oak influence. Ripe fruit goes hand in hand with vanilla and caramel, while the freshness of the limestone-rich Limburg soil keeps the wine in balance. The finish is long and smooth: a powerful yet refined white wine.
Excellent with poultry such as duck and chicken, with veal, dishes with creamy sauces and roasted vegetables.
