Description:

The Viña Pomal Reserva 2018 expresses the essence of traditional Rioja in a style that combines elegance with power. In the glass the wine shows a deep ruby colour, bright and inviting, with light brick-red reflections at the rim as a sign of its maturity. The nose is intense and layered, with aromas of ripe cherries, blackberries and plums intertwined with warm notes of vanilla, cedarwood and a touch of leather from ageing in American and French oak barrels. Light hints of liquorice and clove give the nose extra depth and a classic character. On the palate the Viña Pomal Reserva is smooth and velvety, with a lovely balance between ripe fruit, refined oak and a subtle spiciness. It opens with ripe berries and red plums, after which creamy notes of vanilla and caramel slowly unfold. The tannins are ripe and soft, the acidity fresh but perfectly integrated, so the wine retains its elegance and liveliness. The finish is long, warm and harmonious, with lingering impressions of toasted oak, sweet spices and ripe fruit, inviting another sip and underlining the classic character of a true Rioja Reserva.

Food pairing:
