The colour of this port is a deep amber hue with coppery reflections, a hallmark of its ageing in oak casks. The nose is rich and layered, with aromas of dried figs, raisins and dates, combined with notes of caramel, vanilla and toasted almonds. A light hint of spice and orange peel adds complexity. On the palate the wine has a full and velvety texture. The sweetness is nicely balanced by fresh acidity, giving the port a lively and elegant structure. Flavours of candied fruit, butterscotch and light oak notes blend beautifully, with a subtle spiciness that adds extra depth. The finish is long and warm, with a refined sweetness and a lingering nutty and caramel touch.
Excellent as a digestif or with desserts featuring nuts, caramel or chocolate. Also pairs nicely with mature cheeses such as an aged Gouda or Stilton.
