Puligny-Montrachet 'Le Trézin' 2022 from Prosper Maufoux comes from a village-level lieu-dit high on the slope of Puligny, near the border with Saint-Aubin. Thanks to this high, cooler site, Le Trézin is known for taut, fresh and mineral Chardonnay. In the glass, a pale golden-yellow colour with green reflections. The nose is refined and bright, with citrus, white peach and pear, white flowers and a subtle touch of hazelnut and toast from ageing in oak.
On the palate the wine is taut and precise, with lively acidity and a fine, rounded texture. Citrus and white fruit are carried by a pronounced minerality, while the oak stays subtly in the background. The finish is long, fresh and slightly saline. An elegant, refined white Burgundy in the classic Puligny-Montrachet style, which can gain further complexity over the next few years.
Delicious with seared scallops, sea bass or turbot with beurre blanc, lobster or poultry in a creamy sauce.
