Pinot Noir 2022 from Wijndomein Vlijtingen is a sparkling rosé made from 100% Pinot Noir using the traditional method. The bottles matured for 24 months in the marl caves of Kanne and were then disgorged by hand at the estate. Like all of the house's sparkling wines, this 'Satijn' is finished without dosage. In the glass the wine shows a subtle salmon-pink blush, with steady, lively and fine bubbles. The nose is mineral and complex, with aromas of breadcrumb and small red fruits such as strawberry and raspberry.
On the palate this rosé is distinctly vinous and mouth-filling, with the structure and fruit of the Pinot Noir, yet with lovely freshness. The fine, soft mousse gives a satiny mouthfeel. With no dosage, the wine stays pure and dry, with a long finish in which the red fruit and a light yeasty note linger.
Delicious with salmon or tuna tartare, grilled prawns, duck with red fruit or a charcuterie board.
