Description:

The Margaux appellation is known for its finesse and fragrant elegance, and Le Margaux du Château de Malleret 2019 proudly bears that signature. In the glass, the wine shows a deep ruby-red colour with a velvety sheen — a first sign of ripeness and careful vinification. The nose is inviting and soft, with a floral touch of violets and rose petals that is typical of Margaux. Beneath this, aromas of ripe cassis, black cherry and a hint of raspberry unfold, framed by subtle woody notes: cedar, cigar box and a touch of mocha. The scent is delicate yet layered, revealing something new each time you swirl the glass. On the palate, the wine presents itself with suppleness. The tannins are silky and refined, perfectly integrated into the wine. Cabernet Sauvignon provides structure and length, while Merlot adds roundness and charm. The flavour profile is harmoniously constructed, with dark fruit, gentle spiciness and a subtle hint of graphite and cocoa. Everything is in balance: no single element dominates, but together they form an elegant and thoughtful whole. The finish is long and delicate, with a light mineral tension and an echo of violets and black fruit that lingers on the palate. Le Margaux du Château de Malleret 2019 is a wine that seduces rather than imposes — stylish, balanced and subtly powerful, exactly as you would hope from a good Margaux.

Pairing:

Quail with truffle potato, tournedos with a shallot jus or soft white-mould cheeses such as Brie de Meaux.

Winery:

Château de Malleret, located on the left bank of the Bordeaux region in the municipality of Le Pian-Médoc, has a history that dates back to the 17th century. The estate is mainly known for its classic red wines from the Haut-Médoc, but also produces a refined line of white wine under the name Balzane, named after one of the estate's racehorses — a nod to the château's historic equestrian tradition. The vineyards for the white wine are situated on cool soils and are cultivated with care to bring out the best of the fresh expression of Sauvignon Blanc and the structure of Sémillon.
