The wine has a deep ruby colour with purple reflections, typical of a young Fleurie. On the nose, delicate floral aromas such as violets and rose petals come to the fore, combined with an expressive fruit character of raspberry, cherry and redcurrant. A subtle hint of white pepper and spice adds extra complexity. On the palate the wine is silky and elegant, with lively freshness and a lovely balance between fruity notes and refined spiciness. The old vines (vieilles vignes) give extra concentration and depth, while the tannins are supple and well integrated. The finish is long and harmonious, with a mineral touch and a pleasant freshness that invites another sip.
Excellent with poultry, veal, grilled vegetable dishes and soft cheeses such as Brie or Reblochon.
Domaine de Colonat is a family estate that has been based in the heart of the Beaujolais region since the 18th century.
