Description:

This Chardonnay takes its name from the morning fog that rolls in from San Francisco Bay into the Livermore Valley, creating a cooler microclimate and slower ripening of the grapes. The wine opens with lively aromas of citrus, green apple and melon, supported by subtle hints of toasted oak and vanilla from partial ageing in oak barrels. On the palate the wine offers a creamy texture with flavours of pear, nectarine and a touch of tropical fruit, balanced by refreshing acidity and a mineral undertone. The finish is long and invigorating, with a harmonious integration of fruity and oaky elements.

Food pairing:

This wine pairs excellently with grilled prawns, creamy pasta dishes, roast chicken or salmon with a butter sauce. Also delicious as an aperitif.

Winery:

Wente Vineyards, founded in 1883, is the oldest family-run winery in the United States. Located in the Livermore Valley, it is known for its pioneering role in Californian winegrowing, particularly in the production of Chardonnay. The 'Wente Clone' of Chardonnay, developed by this winery, is now used in more than 75% of all Californian Chardonnay plantings. Wente combines traditional winegrowing techniques with modern innovations and a strong focus on sustainability, resulting in wines that reflect the unique terroir of the region.
