The Capçanes Cabrida 2012 is an iconic wine from Montsant, made from old Garnacha vines growing on steep slopes. The wine has a deep ruby red colour with light garnet reflections. On the nose intense aromas of ripe cherries, plums and blackcurrants come to the fore, accompanied by subtle notes of vanilla, cocoa and Mediterranean herbs. Ageing in oak adds a refined smoky and spicy undertone. On the palate the wine is full and powerful, with a rich concentration of fruit and a fine balance between ripe tannins and fresh acidity. The minerality and complexity of the Montsant terroir come through clearly, while the velvety texture makes for a harmonious drinking experience. The finish is long and elegant, with lingering notes of spices, dark chocolate and toasted nuts.
Delicious with grilled red meat, lamb dishes, mature cheeses and game dishes.
