Fontevecchia is a Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Classico Superiore from CasalFarneto, sourced from the estate's own vineyards on loose, south-east-facing soils in the heart of the Marche. The grapes are gently pressed and fermented at a controlled temperature, after which the wine matures in stainless steel and in bottle. The colour is straw yellow with greenish reflections. The nose is broad, fresh and persistent, with lime blossom, white flowers, almond and summer fruit.
On the palate the wine shows the character of Verdicchio beautifully: freshness and salinity are in balance, the structure is fine and the flavour lingers. The finish ends with the slightly bitter, almond-like accent so characteristic of this grape. A versatile, juicy white wine with more depth than an ordinary Verdicchio.
Lovely as an aperitif and with warm and cold starters, fish dishes and seafood, pasta with mushrooms or truffle, and white meat.
