The Apostelhoeve Riesling is a dry, elegant white wine from the chalky marl slopes of the Louwberg near Maastricht. In the glass it shows a pale yellow colour with a green tinge. The nose is fresh and pure, with citrus fruit and above all Granny Smith apple to the fore.
On the palate the wine is taut, fresh and dry, with a lively acidity, plenty of tension and a precise, mineral structure. The fruit remains bright and juicy. The finish is long and invigorating. According to the winery, this is the wine in the range with the greatest ageing potential: after three to four years the petrol note typical of Riesling develops, and the wine will keep for ten years or more.
Ideal with anything from the sea: oysters, mussels, prawns, sushi and grilled sea bass with herbs.
