Brunello di Montalcino 2018 Baricci DOCG is a prestigious Tuscan wine that expresses the essence of Sangiovese Grosso in sublime fashion. The wine has a deep ruby-red colour with garnet glints as it matures. On the nose it presents a complex bouquet of ripe cherries, plums and red berries, combined with notes of tobacco, cedarwood, leather and subtle herbs such as thyme and liquorice. On the palate this Brunello is powerful and refined, with a firm structure and lively acidity that bring freshness and elegance. The tannins are firm but well integrated, so the wine is both drinkable now and has excellent ageing potential. Flavours of ripe red fruit, spice and a touch of chocolate fill the palate. The finish is long and harmonious, with mineral and spicy notes that linger on.
Excellent with game dishes, grilled red meat, truffle pasta and mature cheeses.
Baricci is a historic winery in Montosoli, one of the most prestigious areas within Montalcino. The estate was founded by Nello Baricci, one of the pioneers of Brunello di Montalcino. The family still continues the tradition with a strong focus on terroir expression, artisanal winemaking and minimal intervention. The vineyards lie on the slopes of Montosoli, an area known for its limestone-rich soils and optimal sun exposure, resulting in wines of complexity, elegance and exceptional ageing potential.
