Description:

Viña Pomal Tempranillo Blanco Reserva 2017 from Bodegas Bilbaínas is a unique and refined white wine, made from the rare Tempranillo Blanco grape. This variety, a natural mutation of the Tempranillo grape, offers a distinctive character that comes to the fore beautifully in this special Reserva. After hand harvesting, the wine undergoes fermentation and 12 months of ageing in French oak barrels. This process adds a layer of complexity and subtlety to the grape's fresh fruit profile. In the glass, the wine gleams with a golden-yellow colour and light green highlights. The nose opens with refined aromas of ripe white fruit such as pear, peach and apple, combined with subtle hints of vanilla, toasted almonds and a touch of dried herbs. The palate is rich and full, with a lovely balance between the freshness of the fruit, the creamy texture and the elegant oak influences. The finish is long and harmonious, with a pleasant mineral undertone. This wine is an excellent choice with creamy fish dishes, poultry or soft cheeses. It is also a wine that can be enjoyed superbly on its own, as a refined experience of Rioja's innovation in white wines.

Food pairing:

Perfect with creamy fish dishes, poultry and soft cheeses.
