Description:

The Wijngaardsberg Blanc de Blancs Brut is made entirely from carefully selected Chardonnay grapes grown on the limestone-rich slopes of Ulestraten. The combination of the cool South Limburg climate and the mineral marl soils gives this sparkling wine a pronounced freshness and an elegant, almost Burgundian style. In the glass the wine sparkles a pale golden yellow with a fine, persistent mousse. The nose opens with aromas of green apple, lemon, white blossom and fresh peach, which after some time in the glass are joined by subtle brioche and a touch of hazelnut thanks to the longer ageing on the lees. On the palate the wine is taut, lively and very precise, with a crisp acidity that supports the ripe fruit. The minerality provides tension and length, while the mousse feels creamy and refined. The finish is pure, fresh and elegant, with light notes of citrus zest and almond that linger beautifully.

Food pairing:

This Blanc de Blancs is an ideal companion to oysters, sashimi, ceviche and refined fish dishes. Light appetisers such as sea bass tartare or a fresh salad with citrus also make a perfect match for its lively freshness.

Winery:

Wijngaardsberg is a historic winery set in the Limburg landscape, where vines have been planted since Roman times. This winery combines tradition with modern viticultural techniques to produce quality wines that reflect the unique character of the Limburg terroir. The limestone-rich soil and the microclimate of the vineyard provide optimal conditions for growing Pinot Noir, a grape that thrives here. The Wijngaardsberg winery works sustainably and with respect for nature, resulting in wines with pronounced character and finesse. The vineyard covers a number of hectares and mainly produces Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, which are appreciated both nationally and internationally.
