The Riesling Auslese 2025 from the steep Lieserer Niederberg-Helden is a nobly sweet Mosel wine made from a selection of very ripe grapes affected by noble rot (botrytis). The grapes were gently pressed and spontaneously fermented, and the wine was bottled in Easter week. In the glass it shows a bright golden yellow colour. The nose is deep and mineral, with refined, gently sweet notes of peach, pineapple, grapefruit and apricot, carried by pronounced slate tones.
On the palate the wine is juicy, with plenty of ripe fruit. The striking acidity and noble sweetness balance each other perfectly, so that despite its density and concentration the wine remains taut and elegant. There is great power and creaminess, excellent structure and high extract. At just 7.5% alcohol, the whole remains light and filigree. The finish is very long, expressive and mineral, with a noble botrytis note. A wine that can also age for many years.
A classic match for foie gras and poultry terrine; also wonderful with blue cheeses, peach or apricot tart and mildly spicy Asian dishes.
