Crisio 2021 is CasalFarneto's Riserva, a Verdicchio from vineyards right next to the winery in Serra de' Conti. The grapes are picked in three passes: early, at normal ripeness and slightly overripe. The early harvest ferments in small wooden casks, the rest in stainless steel, after which the wine matures for at least a year in steel and a year in bottle. In the glass the colour is pale straw with green hints. The nose shows citrus, white flowers, white fruit and aromatic herbs.
On the palate the wine is full, complex and elegant, with a fresh, mineral backbone and a pronounced salty juiciness. A light acidic tension keeps the wine lively. The finish is long and ends on the almond note so typical of Verdicchio. According to the winery, this Riserva can still enjoy itself to the full eight to ten years after the harvest.
Excellent with shellfish and crustaceans, raw fish, pasta or risotto with herbs, mushrooms or truffle, and semi-mature cheeses.
