Description:

The Château Marquis de Terme 2016 has a deep ruby colour with purple reflections, pointing to concentration and elegance. On the nose the wine opens with a seductive bouquet of ripe cassis, black cherries and plums, followed by subtle notes of violets, cedarwood and tobacco. Hints of graphite, clove and dark chocolate add complexity. On the palate this Margaux offers a rich and refined structure, with perfectly ripe tannins giving a velvety mouthfeel. The flavours are dominated by blackcurrants, blackberries and a touch of vanilla, with a light hint of liquorice and roasted coffee from ageing in oak. The finish is long and elegant, with mineral freshness and notes of cigar box, cocoa and subtle spice, giving the wine lovely balance and complexity.

Food pairing:

Rack of lamb with rosemary, grilled entrecôte, game dishes, truffle risotto.

Winery:

Château Marquis de Terme is a Fourth Growth (4ème Grand Cru Classé) in the celebrated 1855 Bordeaux classification. Located in the heart of the Margaux appellation, the château is known for its elegant, refined wines that combine power and finesse. The vineyards cover around 40 hectares, with a terroir of gravelly soils that provide excellent drainage and optimal ripening of the grapes. The vines are on average 35 years old, which gives a concentrated and complex flavour profile. The wine is aged for around 16 to 18 months in French oak barrels, some of them new, to give structure and depth without overpowering the fruit. 2016 was an exceptional vintage in Bordeaux, marked by a perfect balance between ripeness, freshness and tannic structure, resulting in a wine with great ageing potential. Château Marquis de Terme remains a benchmark for Margaux wines, with a style that radiates both power and elegance.
