Chateau Haut Bages
Chateau Haut Bages
Château Haut-Bages Libéral lies in prestigious Pauillac, among the famous châteaux of the Médoc. Founded in the 18th century, the estate owes its name to the Libéral family, who developed the property and expanded the vineyards. The château covers around 30 hectares, with vineyards planted mainly with Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, the classic grape varieties of Pauillac.
Today Château Haut-Bages Libéral is run by the Villars-Merlaut family, known for their commitment to organic and biodynamic viticulture. The château's terroir is characterised by gravelly soils that contribute to the minerality and finesse of the wines. By combining traditional winemaking techniques with sustainable innovations, Château Haut-Bages Libéral produces wines that reflect both the character of the terroir and the authenticity of Bordeaux.
Château Haut-Bages Libéral has received numerous awards for its wines and is internationally appreciated for its elegant, structured wines with good ageing potential. The estate also welcomes visitors for tours and tastings, giving wine lovers the chance to experience the art of Bordeaux winemaking at first hand.
