Abbe Rous
Abbe Rous
Cave de l’Abbé Rous is a cooperative in Banyuls-sur-Mer that brings together some 750 growers, who jointly farm around 1,150 hectares of vineyards on steep terraces along the Côte Vermeille. The name refers to Abbé François Rous, who made wine at the end of the 19th century to fund the building of the village church. The combination of schist soils, Mediterranean sun and traditional viticulture yields wines that show power, fullness and terroir expression, with the focus within the region on Banyuls (vin doux naturel) and Collioure (red/rosé).
